Low light will be tolerated but like all houseplants, it needs bright indirect sunlight. Some sun will be helpful, but harsh sunshine will scorch the leaves.

Water:

Underwatering the areca is better than overwatering. Water well then wait until the surface of the soil has dried out, at which point water well again. Limit the amount of water given when light or temperature levels are low simply because in those conditions plants don’t need as much water.

Areca Palms enjoy bright filtered light and appreciate locations near sunny windows. Avoid intense direct sun that may scorch the fronds.

Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Allow the top layer to dry slightly before watering.

Feed monthly during spring and summer using a balanced NPK fertilizer. Consistent feeding supports healthy green fronds.

Brown leaf tips are often linked to dry air or mineral buildup. Occasional flushing of the soil helps prevent salt accumulation.

Areca is sensitive to drought, avoid it.
