Thyme loves full sun and develops the strongest flavor when grown in bright conditions. It thrives in warm, sunny spots.

Allow the soil to dry between waterings. Thyme tolerates drought much better than excessive moisture.

Very little fertilizer is required. Rich feeding often results in weaker flavor and less compact growth. Feed your thyme once per month. Thyme naturally prefers lean soil. It often performs better when not pampered with excessive water or fertilizer.

Trim your thyme regularly to encourage the plant to produce new shoots. For cooking cut it freshly when needed.
