Lithops love bright sunlight and perform best with several hours of direct sun each day. A sunny south-facing window is ideal. Without enough light, they become stretched and lose their compact stone-like shape.

Water very sparingly. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings, and reduce watering significantly during leaf replacement periods. Overwatering is the fastest way to lose a Lithops.

Lithops rarely need fertilizer. A very diluted cactus fertilizer once during the growing season is more than enough. Too much feeding can cause unnatural growth.

When new leaves are emerging from the center, stop watering until the old leaves have completely dried out. The plant recycles moisture from its old leaves, and extra water can cause splitting.
